Mist

Mist

A little speedpaint of a drawing I had made before around last newyear (2012/2013), I changed the expression and color palette and improved bone structure/facial form.

India

This is a speedpaint I made about a week ago, I used a screencap from the movie “Stoker” as a reference.. the girl in my drawing is called “India” in the movie, hence the name. You should also check out the film it’s absolutely amazing! (If you’re into psychological thrillers)

Anyways.. I trief a different technique for a change, normally i would use lineart as a base for my drawing but this time i did without and this was actually the first time I’ve tried this. I have had very positive feedback on it.

india Original

This was the original one but I’ve been playing around with color a bit and I really liked this version myself:

India Blue

Which one do you prefer?

Vixen

Vixen

This is very recent, i finished it on August 16th and was hoping to make something in the dark fantasy category and i feel like that had been achieved however i also think that it lacks emotion like practically everything i make.. the thing about this one is that it’s very clearly my style and it might not just be a “pretty” face and that makes it different.
Personally i really like it, someone gave me some good advice on improving this piece and it worked!

Flower girl (and new Wacom Bamboo)

A new drawing/painting I’ve made.. I have become much more aware of my weaknesses but also continue to improve.

The things that frustrate me are: anatomy (i should have this down by now), shading (this is a huge problem) and linework.. I would like to get rid of all those lines because it makes my stuff look cartoonish and I’d like to become a digital artist who mainly does semi realistic paintings.

Then there are things I am pretty satisfied with: my sense of color (I feel like my intuition is pretty good),  my increasing knowledge of drawing/editing software, my capability of making something and improving along the way without any real schooling on the particular subject and perhaps my passion to keep on doing what i like no matter what anyone says!

Now onto the technical aspect.. I used my brand new Wacom Bamboo!! Yes i have a new tablet! Woohooo! This is a enormous improvement over my old Wacom Sapphire (dating back to 2002). I’d also like to note that I use Pixelmator for my drawing/painting and often iPhoto for any last minute easy color editing.

Black/white Portrait

This is a drawing I made using this picture: http://nikxstock.deviantart.com/art/Something-else-III-144089695

Blackwhiteportrait

It’s a digital drawing I made in the editing program Pixelmator (which is for mac), I also have a colored version but I figured that it looks nicer in black and white.

I’ve been making quite a lot of digital art lately and a lot of sketches where many of them can be found on my deviantart: http://eev11.deviantart.com/gallery/

I haven’t been particularly proud of my skills lately because I feel that I’m not improving fast enough.. But like many people say: practice makes perfect! So I’ll just draw a lot more.

Purpura WIP

Purpura

This is something I’m working on in Pixelmator, I am not sure where I am going with this but I’m sure to make something nice out of it.. I finally got the hang of using layers and I figured out how it makes everything so much easier! Though I am still trying to find a way to paint hair nicely, this is really bugging me.. I know the techniques in so far as that I know how it works but it just never looks that nice and professional. My paintings are often quite messy and that is what I should avoid this time.

Anyways.. I am ending this here, my goals for this painting are: making it look a bit more nice and clean than I normally do, using layers correctly and finishing it.

Portrait modeldrawing class

portrait-modeldrawingclass

This day we didn’t have any models so one of the other people who was doing the course offered to sit for us, this is the result of an exercise in which we had to use three different tones, the middle tone was pottery orange/brown, the dark was charcoal and the light was chalk.
Obviously this wasn’t completely finished.

Right now I don’t have pictures of any of my other drawings but I think I’ll get to that somewhere this month..
